What is IFS?
Internal Family Systems (IFS), developed by family therapist Prof. Dr. Richard Schwartz, is a scientifically sound, highly effective approach to personality development and inner growth.
IFS originated in psychotherapy and, due to its diverse potential, is finding more and more applications worldwide (coaching, companies, schools, etc.).
The approach assumes that every person has different personality aspects that can be expressed through thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations.
By accessing our whole, invulnerable core (the SELF) with qualities like compassion, clarity, and inner strength, we can find a healthy way of relating to all aspects of ourselves and those of others. This enables inner healing and balance.

IFS outside the therapy room
IFS for Coaches
The official coaching path in IFS is called “IFS
Foundations for Coaches” and is currently offered exclusively by the IFS Institute (IFSI), USA — live online, ICF-accredited (30 CCEs).
A dedicated German-language coaching training program at the IFS Academy is planned for 2028 at the earliest.
