IFS IN PRACTICE:
STRUCTURE & SAFETY FROM THE 1ST SESSION

Course description

From Theory to Confident Practice — Mastering IFS in the Room

You're familiar with the IFS model. You understand parts. You've absorbed the theory. But what happens when a client sits in front of you for the first time?

Many practitioners experience exactly this gap:

  • How do I structure the process clearly?

  • How do I keep track of all the parts?

  • What's the next step to stay in the flow of the IFS model?

This practice-oriented workshop closes exactly that gap — giving you a clear thread to follow, from the initial session to structured session documentation.

Morning: The Initial Session — Clarity from the Start

A successful initial session often shapes the entire process that follows. But what information do you actually need to understand your client's inner landscape of parts? And how do you use it to lay the foundation for the work ahead?

A field-tested intake form guides you step by step through the initial session. We first examine each element in detail and explore how this information can support you throughout the process.

The structured form helps you to:

  • gather the most relevant information with confidence

  • identify meaningful clues about your client's key parts

  • form initial hypotheses about inner dynamics

You then observe a live demonstration session, using the form in real time — experiencing structure as something immediate and tangible.

Afternoon: Navigating the IFS Process — Holding the Thread

The 6 Fs, unblending, healing steps — where are you right now, and how do you stay oriented?

The second part of the workshop focuses on clear process navigation during an IFS session. Here too, a structured session protocol helps you maintain overview and sharpen your focus.

You'll learn how to document sessions so that you always know:

  • where you are in the process

  • which parts you're working with

  • when an unblending has taken place

A second demonstration session followed by a dyad exercise gives you the opportunity to apply and deepen what you've learned.

After both practice demonstrations, there will be ample time for questions, reflection, and exchange.

What You'll Take Away

  • Confidence in the initial session through a clear step-by-step structure

  • A stronger overview of parts, dynamics, and next steps

  • Clarity during sessions — you always know where you stand in the model

  • Ready-to-use session templates that you can adapt to your own practice
